Artist Statement

Ocean life is at risk everyday due to human pollution. My main goal with this project was to hopefully restore that feeling of sadness/regret to how we treat the planet. Sea creatures have no choice but to live in this garbage that we keep dumping in the ocean and sometimes even mistake it for food. We don't realize how rapidly we are destroying our planet. Action must be taken and sometimes art installations have the ability to boost movements towards a better future. This installation was meaningful to me because as i was taking the videos i noticed that most of these animals did not seem happy. Humans are playing a vital role in the natural order of the world and it is only a matter of time before we completely destroy our planet. Without the ocean blue, there is no you.

Artist Research Assignment "Jim Campbell"

Matthew Tenenbaum Artist Research assignment The artist I chose for my research assignment is Jim Campbell. He was born in 1956 in Chicago Illinois and now works based in San Fransisco. He best known for LED light works. With a background in film most of his installations combine film, sound and mainly LED lights. The reason I chose to research Jim Campbell is because after searching for an artist I was astonished by some of his work. He really caught my attention with his use of lights. Not only does he work on installations for public spaces but he also does installations that are used in live performances. He has a great feeling for the use of LED lights to create emotion. Many of his works are still standing today all over the world from 30 foot installed sculptures to different smaller scale projects. Final Project

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kDfX-la-Vk&feature=youtu.be Statement: For this final project i really wanted to try something different; something I've had in mind since we were first introduced to projectors. I wanted to create a simulation of some sort. I decided that a car would be the best bet because the film for it was realistic. I thought it would be really cool to actually build the space in which the simulation was being projected in. For the most part i think i accomplished my goal with this final project. The construction of my car could've gone a little better than anticipated but for the most part i think i did a decent job. I wanted the simplicity of a drive in the projection, not something crazy. It's important to enjoy the little things in life such as driving down the road in beautiful sunny Florida.
