Artist Research Ai WeiWei

Image
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCG9IbE-O7I https://www.designboom.com/tag/ai-weiwei/ Ai Wei Wei is a Chinese contemporary artist and activist that is known all over the world for his creative works. Wei Wei works in sculpture, installation, architecture, curation, photography, film, and social, political and cultural crafts.    His creations are located all over the world. What I like most about Wei Wei’s art is the use of everyday objects to make an abstract overall design. I think it is really cool how he is able to put these creations together. Ai Weiwei is the most famous Chinese artist living today. As an activist, he calls attention to human rights violations on a tremendous scale; as an artist, he expands the definition of art to include new forms of social engagement.

Project 3 / Artist Statement

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6FYgCsb5cg&feature=youtu.be For project 3 i had the idea of having an angel and devil sitting on both of my shoulders trying to give me advice. The reason i had this idea is because i feel as if this is what i experience on a daily basis. For the most part i know that i have a lot of responsibilities and things that need to get done but there are times where i just want to relax and not worry about anything. I used my good friend Joel to play the roles of both the angel and the devil (inner conscience). I wasn't sure whether or not to use the original audio because i thought it would be interesting to leave whats going on up to the audience's interpretation. When i finally decided to use the audio, it wasn't working so i had to improvise and record my own. On the left in white my good conscience is telling my i have important stuff that i have to do and that I'm running out of time. On the right is my bad conscience telling me n

Progress Post 3

Once i had the video cropped and ready to go.. my only problem was there was no audio, which is kind of the whole purpose of my idea. I decided to improvise and record my own audio using Logic Pro X of myself as both a good conscience and a bad conscience. The good conscience wants to give me good advice (do productive things towards my future) while my bad conscience wants to give me bad advice. Be lazy, relax, and not worry about anything. I was able to edit the bad conscience with a deep voice making it sound similar to what i think the devil would sound like. Once i had the audio recorded i bounced it into an MP3 file and synced it up with the video using IMovie.

Progress Post 1/2

The first step i had to take when working on Project 3 was to actually record the videos of both the angel and the devil. I used my good friend Joel Ellis as an actor to play both roles. I brought a white and red shirt to correspond with each role. After i recorded each of the videos i then had to compress the size of the video in order for it to work properly in Mad Mapper. The original size of the videos kept crashing my computer. Once everything was uploaded in mad mapper i then had to move and shrink the projections accordingly to where i would be positioned. I was having a lot of trouble with the original audio playing so i had to compromise. We did the original shoot of Project 3 with no audio. Once the main video was recorded i then had to crop out whatever i wasn't going to use. I was a little disappointed with the original audio not working but i knew i couldn't let that stop me.
